Why shelf toilet

Like Like. Have you ever heard of something like that happening?? And I like your comment about reflecting back. And bathrooms are particularly interesting since they are a universal need yet SO so different all over the world. Hi Ashley, the house I grew up in in Germany was built in and back then it was normal to have toilets with a poop shelf — it is what I grew up with, and it was everywhere, something absolutely normal. I guess this is more for aestatic reasons and to make cleaning easier, as you have an even, smooth surface by hiding the tank.

Germans want to save costs by saving water, and since the s increasinly also save water because of the environment, so the two button system is very common nowadays. Hope this provides a bit more of an enlightenment on German and Dutch toilet history and design.

The co… …. My dad is currently dying of cancer, and while I was visiting him, he randomly mentioned something about the German toilets having a poo shelf. I Googled to find a picture, and your blog post came up. Thanks for giving us a moment of brevity! Is there more splashback or less splashback for a male standing to pee in this waterless toilet vs. Or are these toilets the reason German men have traditionally sat down to pee?

I visited Europe 2 years ago and I had some close encounters with that type of toilets. I hated them. It is because you wont get the nice splash of water over your balls and asshole when crap drops in the water.

It means you dont waste a pile of paper on every crap you take just to keep that splash from happening. This worm infestation would have been much more difficult to detect in her children if she had a conventional toilet in her house. I dont mind the smell. You go nose blind to it within minutes. Its your own smell. The toilet being next to the kitchen is unfortunate design though. I also preffer these kinds of bowls because as a woman i loath the back-splash. I could crawl out of my skin and take a 2 h shower.

But most of the time i only have enough time to use the bidet or some wet wipes and get over it. I dont know how yall stop the splash but if its the put tp on the water before hand, i waste enough paper as it is. Well pros and cons to everything i guess.

If i can find a bowl like that when i get my own apartment or a landlord who allows it ill for sure install this. Pingback: Troncos para inodoro - la-tecnologia. Fuck those Hitler loving Germans and their shelf toilets.

I am a proud American who takes huge shits that splash water and I also stand up to piss. No wonder you asshats lost the war. Thank you for this article, as a person new to Germany and Europe I was trying to figure out how to go about the entire thing! Hilarious though now I have one less of culture shock to look into. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you. You are commenting using your WordPress. You are commenting using your Google account. You are commenting using your Twitter account.
